From the black sands of Wainapanapa State Park to world-famous Hamoa Beach, you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling or surfing close to your doorstep. There are many hidden places for you to explore. Just eight miles away, Haleakala National Park – Kipahulu Division offers great scenery and refreshing swimming. Hikers will enjoy a panoramic hike up through the bamboo forest to Waimoku Falls. The trails at Wainapanapa will bring you to fresh-water caves or take you along the coast to spectacular views where you can sometimes see humpback whales as you hike along the cliffs. Fill your day with a stroll along the beach, or find a quiet place to sit and enjoy the unspoiled beauty. Available nearby amenities include kayaking, horseback riding, tennis, dining out or a relaxing in-room massage.
Our reservation staff will be happy to assist you with the many activities and attractions around Hana including: Horseback riding, nature hiking, beaches, massage, dining, touring Hana’s Cultural Center or Kahanu Gardens where the islands’ largest heiau (temple) has been restored to its original magnificence. Reservations are now required for visitor access to Waianapanapa State Park beginning March 1, 2021. Here is a link to the state-managed reservation system. www.gowaianapanapa.com. Reservations must be made two weeks in advance; no same-day reservations will be available. Visitors making parking reservations will be required to select a time slot to spread out visitation across the day.
